Varieties You’ll See: Sigona’s carries three peach varieties - yellow, white, and flat donut peaches.

Where They Grow: Peaches originated in the Northwest region of China, which remains the world's largest peach producer, followed by Spain, Italy, Greece, and the United States. The top four peach-growing states are California, South Carolina, Georgia, and New Jersey. The ones in your deliveries come from California.

Seasonality: California peak season for peaches starts in early May and runs through late September.

Nutritional Value: A medium peach, about 2 ²⁄³" diameter, is about 59 calories. Peaches are a good source of vitamins A, C, E, and K as well as minerals magnesium, phosphorous and potassium. Studies have shown that peaches are excellent for both heart and eye health, reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease and age-related macular degeneration.

Fun Fact: Peaches and nectarines share an almost identical genetic makeup. Peaches have a dominant allele that causes them to have a soft, fuzzy exterior.
